Why this asset is awkward
Instagram’s built-in layout tools are fine until you want control over spacing, corner radius or the background colour behind the gaps. Most alternatives solve that by uploading your photos to somebody’s server and adding a watermark.
This does it locally. Pick a template, drop in two to six images, adjust the gutter and corners, choose a background, and export a full-resolution PNG or JPEG. Each cell can be repositioned independently, so a portrait photo in a landscape slot still shows the right part of the frame.
Because the canvas switches between a square post, a 4:5 portrait post and a 9:16 Story, the same set of photos can be laid out for whichever surface you are posting to without starting again. Story layouts show the Story safe area over the top so a cell does not end up behind the reply bar.

What the overlays mean
When you build a Story collage, the Story safe area is drawn over the layout so you can see whether a cell is going to sit behind the reply bar. Post templates show the profile-grid crop instead.

Three things that go wrong

Odd numbers of photos need an asymmetric template
Three photos in a symmetric grid always leaves an awkward hole. The one-large-plus-two templates handle it better.

Gutters read better than borders
A few pixels of background between cells separates the images without the scrapbook effect of a thick frame.

Reposition inside a cell, do not pre-crop
Drop the full photo in and drag it within its cell. Cropping beforehand throws away the room you need to fine-tune the composition.

How do I make a collage for an Instagram Story?

How many photos can go in one collage?
