Why this asset is awkward
Discord avatars are circles with a bite taken out of them. The online-status dot is punched out of the bottom-right corner of every avatar, everywhere — member list, message rows, profile card — so anything positioned there is not just covered, it is cut out.

Shift the subject up and left
Because the status dot occupies the bottom-right, avatars read better with the focal point slightly above and left of centre.

128 is the minimum, not the target
Discord states a 128 × 128 minimum, but retina displays render avatars at twice their CSS size. Uploading 512 × 512 costs nothing and looks noticeably sharper.
