Why this asset is awkward
An event cover is doing sales work: it appears on the event page, in the feed when someone shares it, and on the small card in a friend’s events list. The desktop banner and the mobile card crop differently, so a date printed at the left edge can vanish on a phone.

Put the date in the image and in the event
The cover travels into feeds where the event details are collapsed. A legible date on the image itself does real work.

Keep the bottom quarter clean
The title and date chip are drawn over it on several surfaces. Anything you place there is competing with Facebook’s own text.

The events list card is tiny. If the event name is unreadable at that size, the cover is not doing its job.
