About Social Toolshed
A workshop for social images: 37 tools across 9 platforms, 36 sourced presets, and one image engine that never sends your files anywhere.
The problem this solves
Search “youtube banner size” and you get a number. What you actually needed was to know that the number is 2560 × 1440 but only the middle 1546 × 423 is visible on a phone, that your logo is currently sitting in the part a phone throws away, and that the file you were about to upload is 9 MB against a 6 MB limit.
A size chart cannot tell you any of that, because it does not have your image. So every page here does both: it answers the size question in one server-rendered sentence with a source and a date, and then hands you a working editor that shows the answer applied to your own file.
Three constraints
Everything runs in your browser
Not as a feature, as an architectural rule. There is no image-processing API, no server action and no upload endpoint in this codebase. That is what lets the privacy page state the claim flatly instead of hedging it, and it is enforced by an automated test.
Every number carries a source and a date
And an honest confidence label. Where a platform hides its numbers behind a JavaScript-rendered help portal, the page says the figure is corroborated rather than quoted. Where a platform publishes nothing — TikTok’s safe zone, Pinterest’s board covers — the page says that too. The methodology page lists every uncertain preset and why.
One page per real job
“Twitter banner size”, “twitter header size” and “x banner size” describe one asset, so they share one URL and it redirects. There are no thin synonym pages here, because a second page that repeats the first helps nobody who arrives on it.
What it deliberately does not do
- No platform accounts or posting. Nothing here logs into a platform, reads your analytics, looks up a channel or publishes on your behalf. The feed layout planner previews a grid; you post it.
- No performance predictions. The thumbnail tester shows your thumbnail at the size people see it. It does not forecast clicks, and nothing here claims a pixel size will grow an audience.
- No design suite. These are preparation tools: crop, fit, fill, compress, export. They are not trying to replace an illustration app, and the emote tools say so rather than pretending otherwise.
- No silent conversions. An animated file is rejected with an explanation rather than flattened to one frame. A JPEG export that would discard transparency warns first.
Independence
Social Toolshed is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by YouTube, Twitch, Discord, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, Pinterest or Meta. Platform names are used only to identify which asset a tool prepares. All trademarks belong to their respective owners.
No platform logo, wordmark, brand colour or interface artwork appears anywhere on this site. Preview frames are drawn from neutral geometry — a circle, a bar, an outlined glyph — to communicate scale and crop without imitating anyone’s product.
Cost
Free, accountless and unwatermarked, with no export limit. There is no paid tier at the moment; if one ever arrives it will be for saved brand kits and bulk queues, not for the core exports.
